Lee ‘Tisch’ Bialczak

Born and raised on a farm in Wisconsin, Lee spent much of her childhood drawing and painting her environment. Drawn to the West as an older teenager, she has called Montana her home since 1979. Currently residing near Choteau, MT with husband and horses, Lee studied arts and sciences at the University of Great Falls and Montana State University. Her keen sense of observation and detail are enlivened by her reverence for nature and love of the outdoors. Her activities include kayaking, hiking, and horseback riding, primarily in Glacier National Park, which inspire her choice of subjects.

Her soft pastel and her practiced technique convey a sense of immediacy and harmony that we feel with our natural environment, all while capturing the dynamic awe-inspiring vistas of the majestic Montanan landscape. Her realistic depictions of the transformative effects of light and color in her subjects are life-affirming.

A multiple award winner, Lee has received numerous Judges Choice Awards in the Montana State Fair in the pastel medium, and she was awarded the People’s Choice 1st Place Award in 2016. Also in 2016, she earned a Merit Award in the “New Beginnings” on-line exhibition, with Manhattan Arts International. She also earned the Judges Choice Award in the Western Heritage Art Show and Sale during Russell Art Week 2017. Recently, Lee was juried in to the UArt 2017 Online Pastel Show, judged by world renowned Master Pastelist Richard McKinley. As well, her art was selected and published in the Current Masters Volume 3, by World Wide Art Books, to be released late fall 2017. As of Summer 2018, Lee has joined The Clarke Gallery sales team….
