George Garrity

George considers himself a recreational artist who simply loves to paint. Wintering now in Arizona with wife, Linda, they still spend much of the year in George’s childhood home of Whitefish, MT. During the summer, he can be found along Glacier’s Going-to-the-Sun Road, painting with his plein-air friends.

In his early years, George was self-taught, until he retired from the corporate world. Then, he started to study with well-known Flathead Valley artists, Mark Ogle, Joe Abbrescia and Bob Cavanaugh. Add to that workshops with AZ artist, Matt Smith for a well-rounded education.

“We, as artists, are so lucky to have Glacier Park at our back door. The scenery changes by the hour, which makes it such a wonderful place to paint,” says Mr. Garrity.
